Internet connections are typically about 128 Mbps but Advanced Information Delivery and Access Solutions (AIDAAS) can push speeds up to 512 Mbps and add voice and video into the mix. AIDAAS is a Digital Video Broadcast – Satellite (DVB-S) technology that provides a single platform for broadcast and broadband multi-media services.

It uses the technology of a satellite sent into outer space on the ground. It was jointly developed by Allied Digital and its Ukrainian partners who were also involved in the Sputnik program.

AIDAAS technology deploys KU Band spectrum ranging from 10GHz to 15GHz  and transmit both vertical and horizontal polarizations. It employs the world’s first hybrid technology deploying DVB-S plus Internet Protocol which can offer broadcast, voice, video and data services concurrently, made possible through its unique ability to transmit up to 800Mbps while integrating with other network systems.

The feasibility of AIDAAS terrestial digital wireless technology with both forward and return channel was proven in December, 2006.

The main component of the technology is the sectoral antenna or central stations which is installed at a minimum height of sixty five meters. It has eight adjustable sectors with a field pattern of forty five degrees.

Each sector has a transmitter and receiver that separately transmits and receives data via horn antennas.

The unique dome casing design of the central station is made up of reinforced fiber glass to overcome rain, making it particularly useful for tropical environments; able to adapt the high temperatures and all weather conditions.

Under heavy rainfall of 65mm/hr., the attenuation factor reduces the coverage to about 9 km. radial, but this is overcome by a dynamic power system which is designed automatically increase the coverage back to normal.

According to the chief scientist of AIDAAS, the maximum output power for the antenna is approximately 1.5 watts and this he believes will not have any adverse effect to human and the environment.

The technology is developed to offer broadcast, video, data and voice services. It combines both Digital Video (DVB) and IP technology does not interfere with other transmissions systems. Among the digital services it plans to offer are digital broadcast (Pay TV and Free to air TV), and IP services such as IPTV, VOIP, Internet Access, Videoconferencing and others.
