Controlling Hypertension - The Silent Killer

Studies have shown that hypertension or high blood pressure, if it is not detected and treated immediately, it is highly life threatening and complications can be developed over a period of time such as hardening of arteries known as (atherosclerosis) or bulging of the artery (aneurysm) in the brain that can lead to stroke. Hypertension is the condition when systolic pressure(the upper number) exceeds 140 and diastolic pressure(lower number) exceeds 90, so if you have a reading of 140/90, it means that you are just within the borderline. The ideal normal adult blood pressure is about 120/80 mm Hg. Systolic measurement is the pressure of blood against the artery walls when the heart has just finished pumping while the diastolic measurement is the pressure of blood against the artery walls between heartbeats. Hypertension knows no age barrier, it can afflict to anyone whether you’re old or young.

Climate Change - A Fight For 4 Billion People

In a February 2007 report by the world’s foremost authority on climate change - the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC). In their first of six reports, the IPCC has this to say ” fossil fuel pollution would raise temperature this century, worsen floods, droughts, hurricanes, melt polar ice and damage the climate system for a thousand years.” The report also confirmed that man is ninety percent to blame. ” His burning of oil, coal and natural gas in factories and industrial plants since the industrial revolution (1880s) induces the earth to heat up. These fossil fuels release carbon into the air, creating an invisible greenhouse that pollutes the upper atmosphere, lock the heat inside, and thus radiate this heat back to earth. Carbon dioxide (CO2), which account for sixty percent of the greenhouse gases in the upper atmosphere by industry, cars, agriculture and deforestation. In its natural state, CO2 is produced by volcanic eruptions, forest fire and decaying plants.

Breast milk has been considered as a living biological fluid that contains nutrients proportionate to your baby’s needs. Aiming For A Healthy Diet

If one is aiming for a healthy diet, aim for variety. Choose different colors of fruits and vegetables. Eat different fruits and vegetables daily and better yet choose fresh ones that is free from chemical pesticide residues. Be sure to wash them thoroughly with water before you cook or eat them. Minimize your consumption of processed foods such as sausages, hotdogs or any salted or any chemical preserved food. Dining on fast food outlets on a regular basis is unhealthy because it does more harm than good to your health. Include carbohydrates in your every meal moderately, this means 160 to 200 grams for 2,000 calorie a day diet for adult women and 240 to 300 grams for adult men.

When I was a kid, I thought that rearing a child was easy. But now it has changed, when I become a father myself of two children, a boy and a girl. I realized both the joys and pains of being their Dad. Experiencing the task of changing diapers, waking up early in the morning to fix a bottle of milk, calming a crying child…are one of those undaunted task provided by a parent to his child. Everyone knows that disciplining a child is probably the toughest task of being a parent aside from the dilemma to see to it that their children eat the nutritious food they need. Educate them in simple terms the importance of a balanced diet and the beneficial contribution that it can do to their mental and physical well being and of their being healthy. Providing them the guidance, material things, right values and moral support whenever they need it is ones parents’ responsibility. Obesity - A Global Concern

About three hundred twenty million people are obese and the number is not decreasing considering the sedentary lifestyle of many individuals and the proliferation of unhealthy foods as reported by the World Health Organization (WHO). The world body defines obesity and being overweight as ” an accumulation of excess body fat to an extent that may impair health”. When you exceed the ideal body weight by one hundred pounds for males and eighty pounds for the females, you are considered suffering from severe or morbid obesity. International health experts define overweight, when you have a body mass index (BMI) of twenty five and above and obesity with a BMI of thirty or more. Body mass index is calculated by a person’s weight in kilograms divided by the square of his or her height. They claimed that there are more obese females than males.

Is Truth Less Powerful Than Gossip ?

By nature people tend to believe in gossip other than the truth, a study has shown. It has found further that gossip played a vital role in people lives for making a decision, noted an evolutionary biologist at the Max Planck Institute who led the study. It has also shown that gossip has still a strong influence to people despite their access to original information. Hence, it has been noted that gossip has strong manipulative potential to people. With a series of experiments conducted by researchers through playing games, people reacted by a mere gossip as soon as they receive the information despite no hard evidence to substantiate it when they responded to give less to those who are described as “nasty misers” and give more to those who are portrayed as “generous players”.
