Did you know that inhaling cigarette smoke causes several immediate adverse responses within the heart and blood vessels? The heart rates begin to rise within a minute of starting to smoke and the blood vessels become narrower. Smoking not only causes coronary artery disease but also brain attack (stroke) an peripheral disease. These factors when present in the vascular system can initiate abnormalities in the blood vessel wall which may lead to atherosclerosis or clogging of arteries.

The Versatile Bamboo - Its Contributions To Our Environment

China has at present more than five million hectares of bamboo plantation and still growing. In recent years bamboo has also been lauded as a source of fabric. Bamboo cloth is gaining popularity in the world market, for its softness comparable to silk and its ability to produce fabrics that breathe. Few are aware that there are at least 1500 recorded uses of bamboo. It can be used either as food (bamboo shoot), shelter (bamboo grove or rest houses), clothing (bamboo fabric), protection (fence, windbreaker and soil erosion) and fishing materials.

Preventing Urinary Tract Infection

The urinary system consisting of paired kidneys, ureters, bladder and urethra is the second commonly infected by infection after the respiratory system. Maintaining the body’s internal environment within normal limits is the main function of the urinary system. Urine is formed in the kidneys and passed through a narrow tubes called ureters going to the urinary bladder where it is stored. When the bladder is full urine is excreted through the urethra.

The Relevance Of Emotional Intelligence To Our Lives

Scientists have alluded to two minds of man, one that thinks and one that feels. This feeling and reason dichotomy parallels the folk distinction between the “head” and the “heart”. It is for this reason that if the heart rules the head, it can becloud the mind and thus make reason ineffectual. For ideal situation there must be balanced between reason and emotion. Given the reality that man has a single intelligence, the alleged two minds are really one reflecting distinct operations for each but interwined in a single circuitry of the human brain.

Shark Population - Facing Serious Threat

One third of more than five hundred shark species are threatened with extinction according to World Conservation Union. Many species of shark are facing a grave threat to their existence because of worldwide fishing trends. Fishermen used to cut the lines and let the sharks go, but not anymore because in recent years fishermen have kept the sharks to sell their lucrative fins. Shark overfishing can remove fifty to ninety percent of an entire shark species in only ten years, it is alarming but the projections were based on an ongoing study by the Conservation Union Shark Research Group.

A mother’s lullaby can pacify a crying baby and soothes it into sleep, while the bugle corps of the military plays marches that maintain the cadence of troops, keep up the moral and set the mood for soldiers to march bravely to war.

Sea Farming - A New Trend Of Raising Fish

With fish catch getting scarcer from marine waters it is about time growing fish in cages at the coastal waters of the sea where overcrowding to avoid fish kill and other problems is nil. There are probably many protected coves in your area which could be utilized for growing marine fish in cages. One showcase of productive fish farming is raising such species as milkfish (bangus), pompano, seabass, lapulapu and snapper. What one has to need is a small area where one can set up a cage measuring 15 meters in length by 15 meters in width and 5 meters in depth. Such an area could produce thirty five to forty tons of milkfish or pompano in just one cage. Such yield is equivalent to ten hectares of earthen fishpond under the extensive system of culturing.

US Tourism Is Not The Same As It Used To Be

Many international travelers are avoiding the United States because of the hassles of tight security measures in place and the entry process has taken for one such a long time, even as the weakened dollar makes the United States somehow a cheaper place to visit. Tourists going to the US excluding travelers from Mexico and Canada, has started decreasing after the September 11, 2001 incident and are still seventeen percent lower than in the year 2000 levels per the US Department of Commerce.
