World no. 1 Novak Djokovic defeated Richard Gasquet of France 7-5, 6-3 and advanced himself into the quarter-finals of the Sony Ericsson Open.
Djokovic had a game on his hands in the opening set when he was broken in the fourth game by a fine backhand winner from the Frenchman.
The Frenchman’s determination faded in the second set as Djokovic broke in the fourth and sixth games to run out winner in one hour 40 minutes.
The Serb will face the winner between Juan Martin Del Potro and David Ferrer who will be facing each other late today.
Second seed Rafael Nadal, a three-time finalist at the Miami Masters advanced also into the quarter-finals following a 6-4, 6-4 win over Kei Nishikori of Japan.
The Spaniard will now face the winner of the match between sixth seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga and Florian Mayer before a potential semi-final clash with Murray.
Earlier, Roger Federer Of Switzerland lost to American Andy Roddick 7-6 (7-4), 1-6, 6-4 in the third round of the tournament.
Fourth seed Andy Murray has beaten Gilles Simon 6-3, 6-4 to set up a quarter-finals match up with Janko Tipsarevic, who earlier beat unseeded Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov 7-6, 6-3.
In other fourth round action, American Mardy Fish fought past Spaniard Nicolas Almagro 6-3, 6-7, 6-3 and will face either fellow American Andy Roddick or Spaniard Juan Monaco.
