Maria Shriver who filed divorce proceedings in court on July 1 against her husband, Arnold Schwarzenegger is entitled to a 50 percent split of all their conjugal assets accumulated during their marriage.
The former California governor is reportedly willing to give Shriver more than she is owed under Californian law. This could be a very amicable divorce settlement that the couple don’t want to be played out by the media, an insider said.
Schwarzenegger wants to show to his wife and children that he is taking responsibility for his actions that is why he is willing to share his fortune to her, according to an insider.
The ‘Terminator’ star also realized that he is solely to blame for the collapse of his marriage and acknowledged Shriver as a loving wife and mother.
He understands the pain that his wife went through, so he wants to do the right thing and be flexible enough of what required of him under the law, an insider further added.
Divorce settlement talks between Schwarzenegger and Shriver have been ongoing right after the former admitted in May to the latter that he fathered a child with their housekeeper Mildred Baena.
The body builder icon’s reported wealth is worth around US$ 500 to US$ 750 million dollars.
