Scotty McCreery Wins The 2011 ‘American Idol’

After a long wait and as expected Scotty McCreery won the ‘American Idol.’ It garnered a record of more than 122 million viewer votes for the event.

The competition represents the first all-country finale and the youngest duo ever to compete on “Idol,” which is in its 10th season.

Lauren Alaina, despite a vocal injury that needed medical treatment, judges seemed unanimous in their reviews that she won that night.

However, the more popular McCreery who got the majority chunk of the public votes won the title and claimed a record contract.

McCreery, 17, seemed overwhelm with the situation as he took the stage for a celebratory version of “I Love You This Big,” halting to embrace his parents in the audience, Alaina and others.

He’s the 4th male in a row to win the coveted ‘American Idol’ since 2008 while Jordin Sparks, 17, the last female ‘idol’ who won it in 2007.
