The Holy Quran permits polygamy, but under certain conditions. “If you fear that you cannot be fair to the orphans (in your care), then marry (other) women you like – two, three, four. If you fear that you cannot take care of them (i.e., wives) equally, marry one, ” according to Surah An-Nisa (4:3).
